BRAKING NEWS: Govt scraps HNDs, merges polys with varsitiesFrom Madu Onuorah, Abuja:THE Federal Executive Council (FEC) yesterday approved a comprehensive reform of Nigeria's tertiary education system, scrapping the award of the Higher National Diploma (HND) by the nation's polytechnics. In effect, the award of the HND will be limited to only the students currently admitted for the programmes. Also, all the programmes currently being run by the polytechnics, which are not technology-based, and which are about 70 per cent, will be scrapped.Under the new rule, the polytechnics will now become campuses of the proximate universities with the Vice Chancellors of thoseuniversities appointing provosts for the polytechnics, subject to the ratification of the Universities Councils. The polytechnics will now be limited to award of the National Diploma (ND) while those desirous of further education will be awardedthe Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) by the proximate university. To kick-start the new policy, the nation's two most prominent polytechnics - Yaba College of Technology and Kaduna Polytechnic -will henceforth be known as City University of Technology, Yaba and City University of Technology, Kaduna. And to give legal teeth to these approvals, the FEC approved the submission of two Executive bills to the National Assembly for enactment into law. With education being on the concurrent list, the states may wish to consolidate their tertiary institutions. But if they do not wish to follow the federal example, their programmes will continue to be regulated by the relevant agencies of the Federal Ministry of Education. The first bill will concretise the setting up of the two city universities while the second will approve the preparation and consolidationof all federal polytechnics and colleges of education as campuses of proximate universities. The Ministry of Justice will do the preparation and submission of the two bills to the National Assembly.Minister of Education, Mall. Adamu, told journalists after the weekly meeting of the council that under the reform measures, her ministry would, however, continue to licence private polytechnics and colleges of education for the award of qualification at ND and National Certificate in Education (NCE) levels. She said: "There will be no more award of HND.After we have exhausted the current students under the programme, there will be no more award of HND. This means that there will be no fresh admission for HND programmes. And in addition, any programme that is not technical will be out of the polytechnics. About 70 per cent of polytechnic graduates are in the non-technical courses. It is going to be a rigorous implementation programme."A ministerial committee to ensure the smooth implementation of all that is required for the take-off of the reform initiatives is to begin work immediately.Mall. Adamu said: "The HND certificate will remain a legal tender in Nigeria and holders of such certificate will continue to be recognised as the equivalent of first degree holders without discriminatory remunerations and limit to progression in the work place. The NCE certificate will be retained as the minimum teaching qualification at the basic level of education. Any higher qualifications bythese private or state-owned polytechnics will be only affiliation with a university. So, HND is no longer in existence, but existing HND will be respected and considered legal tender."The council also approved the Federal Government's formal take-over of the Waziri Umaru Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, which will be the College of Technology campus of the Othman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, as well as the Hussein Adamu Polytechnic, Kazaure,Bauchi, which will be a College of Technology of the proximate university in the state. Also, the Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri, Imo State, has been taken over as a campus of the Federal University ofTechnology, Owerri.A state that had never had any federal institution, like Bayelsa, is to have a College of Technology as a campus of the College of Technology of the University of Port Harcourt. Also, Bali, in Taraba State, is to have a college of technology as a campus of the country.

I'm not dating Falz or Adekunle Gold
, says SimiSimi‘Jamb Question’ crooner, Simi, has opened up concerning how she met her first love, who she stated that she eventually lost contact with. The singer disclosed this in an interview with The Sun News , making sure to reject rumours concerning having a romantic relationship with Falz or Adekunle Gold .    “My first love? I met him when I was 13 and in SS1. I was just about to turn 14 and he just came to my school.     “How do you really explain that as a child? But it did happen, and he left my school after a while, so we drifted apart. Then we met somewhere again. We drifted apart again and then that was it.“Simi, who also admitted that she is in a romantic relationship with someone said she hopes that the person is the one she ends up settling down with.According to her, that should naturally be the outcome when one is emotionally invested in a love affair.    “Well, I hope he is the one because I don’t think relationships should just be for leisure. I can’t really speak for anybody but for me.”    “If I am giving you an access to that part of my life then it has to be worth my while and worth his while as well. But I can’t force it though, if he is the one, fine and if not, fine“, she said.

LATEST NEWS ON RESUMPTION

*LATEST RESUMPTION NEWS*This writeup is not written to frighten us, but to let us know the latest news about the school, so as to increase our prayer level for the school if at all we are praying. Before I go to the full details 👉 Be informed that, we are no more in semester break but now on strike 👉 Be informed that, the university Non-teaching staffs (NASU) has joined the university teaching staffs (ASUU) on strike. 👉 Be informed that, there is No resumption date for now, as any one announced by anybody is invalid and just a rumor. 👉 Be informed that, the school gate was closed yesterday as LAUTECH Non-teaching staff threatened to cause violence in school, as a results which led to well recognized lecturers trekking to their various offices. *Now to the full gist*It is no longer a news that LAUTECH is on strike for over a month now, which was approved at local level. According to one our lecturers ( a respected lecturer from CSE) said to us yesterday that, _" The academic teaching staffs (ASUU) of the university has given the school holders till 30th of this month to respond to the ongoing strike, else the strike will be taken to national level for approval which will lead to indefinite strike. "_If the strike is approved on a national level, the indefinite strike will start which will last for at *least* one month according to her. Also be aware that all Nigeria universities academic teaching staffs (ASUU) has also given the federal government 8days to respond to the agreement signed with them the last time they embarked on strike which lasted for 6months in 2013. Failure to which will lead to all the Academic staffs in the country to embark on another indefinite strike which will last for at least 3months as said by her.😳😳this remind me of the last time they went on strike in 2013 which lasted for 6months..OMG. In conclusion, if ASUU at lautech level and national level is not attended to b4 the end of this month, indefinite strike will start which will last longer than you ever think. Fellow ladokite, this is the present state of the university. It is high time we fast and pray for this citadel of learning as next week bring to us our fate on resumption. I will bring it to a close at this point. Thanks. *Rebroadcast*.

DO NOT DO WITHOUT READING (INCIDENT)

PICK YOUR CALLS PLEASE, During the burial of a young man, another young man was crying out his heart. He wept uncontrollably that many people kept wondering what is wrong with him.The mc dropped the microphone and went and took this weeping young man to a corner, calmed him down and he started to explain. He was with the guy that died the day he met his death. He drove off first and on getting to a particular spot, he noticed that some armed robbers were getting ready to block the road and resume operation. He managed to escape. He started calling his friend to tell him what he saw, that he should remain where he was. This friend would not pick his call. To him: “why is he calling? He should know that I am driving right behind him”. He refused to pick the call as this guy kept calling and calling. Finally, he drove into the now ready armed robbers and they pumped countless bullets on him.He died on the spot and armed robbers stole his car. This man was crying because he knew his friend killed himself. Many of us are just like this. Are you the one buying the credit for him or her? Pick your call when your phone rings and know why you are been called. If the phone rings twenty times in one minute, pick in all occasions. He was saving credit for his friend because I am driving straight to where he is, he met his death. You are in an occasion and you are calling someone you are looking at because you want to pass a crucial information, he ignores the call and is walking up to you instead, even when you are making sign that he should pick the call.It is possible that this caller didn’t want you to come near him because he wanted to code something. Pick your call and say hello. Some people will not pick calls from numbers they don’t know and I wonder:HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU KNOW ON PLANET EARTH? DO YOU EVER THINK THAT THOSE PEOPLE YOU KNOW ARE ALL YOU NEED IN LIFE? Note something, there is no one individual that knows up to 1% of the world population. Is it not insanity for you to restrict your life to just 1% of global population? What of the remaining 99%? Many people have missed life saving opportunities because they refused to pick a particular call.PICK YOUR PHONE WHEN IT RINGS AS LONG AS YOU ARE AVAILABLE. ONE CALL CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOR THE BETTER AND REFUSAL TO PICK A PARTICULAR CALL CAN LEAD TO UNTIMELY DEATH. Playing take note

We are here to give our total support to him over the recent framing of him in an alleged forgery case, because we cannot, as fathers and conscience of the party, sit down and just watch.”“Senator Ekweremadu is a man of integrity with a high record of performance. Group threatens to shut down EFCC office

A middle belt group is threatening to shut
down EFCC office in Abuja
– The group said it resolved to occupy the
commission over their failure to commence
the prosecution of those indicted by the
Justice Kpojime Commission of inquiry
– A former aide to ex-Governor Gabriel
Suswam said the agitation of the group was
belated
The Middle Belt Renaissance Movement
(MBRM), has threatened to occupy the Abuja
office of the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC), by Thursday, July 7, over
the failure of the commission to commence
the prosecution of 52 persons allegedly
indicted by the Justice Kpojime Commission of
inquiry in Benue state.
Kuanum Terrence, the national coordinator of
the group, who addressed reporters in Makurdi
said the aim of their action would be to
compel the anti-graft agency to commence the
prosecution of those indicted by the panel,
Vanguard reports.

He said: “ We are bothered that after the report
of Justice Elizabeth Kpojime Commission of
enquiry which indicted former Governor Gabriel
Suswam and 51 persons for allegedly looting
Benue State treasury was submitted to the
EFCC, the matter has been swept under the
carpet. We have resolved to occupy the head
office of the commission in protest over their
inaction and after 72 hours, if they still fail to
commence the prosecution of those indicted .”
In reaction, Job Tsegha, the former senior
special assistant to former Governor Gabriel
Suswam, said the agitation of the MBRM came
late as a high court in Makurdi recently
quashed the report of the panel.
“ I am not sure the MBRM is conversant with
the developments in Benue state because the
Kpojime report has already been quashed by a
Makurdi high court.
“The whole thing was a witch-hunt so they
should get their facts right ,” he said.

revealed that some of the hawkers were nabbed
along major routes in Lagos such as Maryland,

arrest street hawkers.
Although the latest resolve by the Lagos state
government is not a new law in the state, many
have condemned the new move as they believe
the governor should have provided options for
the hawkers who will now be displaced since
their sources of income have been taken away
from them.

Many are also of the opinion that putting the

believe street trading has helped to reduce.

Ekitigate: Police to investigate Fayose

Persons who allegedly suffered harassment
during the last Ekiti state gubernatorial
election have written petitions against
Governor Ayo Fayose
The majority of the petitions were said to have
originated from members of the All
Progressives Congress in the state
The police have begun investigating some of
the cases in the petition and intend to invite
the governor’s loyalists for interrogation
The office of the Inspector general of police as
received not less than 102 petitions against
Governor Ayo Fayose.
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state may
have found himself in trouble waters again as
the office of the inspector general of police has
received not less than 102 petitions against the
governor relating to harassment of persons
during and after the last governorship election
in the state.

According to Punch, the petitions were written
by those alleged to have been harassed, beaten
or detained before, during the controversial poll
which has been dubbed Ekitigate.
The majority of the petitions were said to have
originated from the members of the All
Progressives Congress in the state.
The police have begun investigating the some
of the cases in the petition and intend to invite
the governor’s loyalists who were either in the
employment of the state or in other positions
when they partook in the acts stated in the
petitions.
Though some of the cases have been already
investigated by a special police team, led by
one CSP Ndah, the police failed to arrest some
of the governor’s aides during the tenure of the
last inspector general of police, Mr. Solomon
Arase because Fayose was said to have raised
the alarm, alleging that the police were coming
to raid the state and his personal house.
However, following the conclusion of the
army’s inquiry into roles played by its officers
and men during the election, a police source
said that the time was ripe for the police to
look at the petitions again.
He said: “The police have over 102 petitions
against the governor which we are investigating.
Soon, we will start inviting the suspects for
interrogation,” the senior police officer said.

probe my government
He added, “We have the petitions already
worked on by a senior police officer, who is
retired now, but we are looking at them again
so that it doesn’t look as if we are sweeping
anything under the carpet.”
Meanwhile, following an alleged plot to unseat
Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state, members
of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took to
the streets on Thursday, June 30, to protest.
The PDP members trooped out in their
numbers in Ido-Ekiti headquarters of Ido/Osi
local government, in support of Governor Ayo
Fayose, The Nation reports.
The petitions were said to have been written by
those alleged to have either been harassed,
beaten or detained before, during, and after the
last governorship election in the state.
According to the protesters, any attempt by the
federal government to remove Governor Fayose
will not be condoned.

Meet 18year old prositute which customers are police officers

18-year old American prostitute Celeste Guap
who recently claimed that she has had sexual
intercourse with 32 police officers, finally
revealed why she had revealed the secret she
has kept over the years.
18-year old prostitute Celeste Guap
Daily Mail reports that, Guap has sparked up
investigations about seven laws enforcement
agencies in California bay, after she had sex
with multiple officers at a very young age. Her
sudden revelation has prompted three chiefs
from the ‘frat house’ Oakland Police
Department, to resign as one of them
committed suicide.
After some officers tendered their resignation,
the prostitute disclosed that some officers still
call her demanding for sex but she feels guilty
as she still stood her ground that it was just an
‘adult consensual fun’.
Guap also said that out of the 32 officers she’d
slept with, only three had paid her. However
she kept the trysts going because they would
share information about criminal investigations.
In her latest interview with ABC 7, the mother
of one said she was first paid for sex at the
age of 12 and had her first liaison with a cop
when she was 16.

Guap claims she slept with three other officers,
two from Oakland and one from the Contra
Costa Sheriff’s Department when she was a
minor. She also revealed that she is still
working on the streets but is concerned as
many of the cops she knew have turned their
backs on her.
Speaking to a reporter in a park where she had
allegedly met officers for sex, she spoke about
why she told senior officials in the Oakland
Police Department about her illicit
relationships.
She said she was in Puerta Rico for her 18th
birthday in September, 2015 when she
stumbled into a bad neighborhood, drunk and
just wearing a bikini. Feeling unsafe, she called
Officer Brendan O’Brien who she had been
close with. But he didn’t pick up.

5 bad habits inherited from you

>Parents should serve as good examples to
their children
– Some children do not just behave the way
they do without a reason
– Bad habits in children stem from their
parents most times
Poverty should not be used as an excuse for
neglecting children by the parents. Parents
should try to give their children the best in
terms of sound and quality formal and informal
education. Informal education here means
proper home training.
A Muslim father with his children
Allah mentioned in chapter 17 verse 31 of the
Glorious Qur’an that parents should not kill
their children for fear of poverty. Allah says he
provides for the children through the parents
and the parents themselves. Allah said killing
of children is the greatest injustice.
READ ALSO: #Ramadan: 5 things about the
holy month of Ramadan
Prophet Muhammad also added his voice to
caring for children. He said anyone who does
not care for children is not part of the Muslim
community
1. He disrespects you
A child could become disrespectful if his
parents do not respect each other. For
instance, if a man abuses his wife, and the
wife does the same in return, their child is
surely going to become a ward with bad
character. In little or no time, he will show this
bad behaviour towards both parents by
frequently disobeying them when they ask him
to do a chore or send him on errand.
2. Take things personal by over reacting
Parents are mirror to their children. A father
who over-reacts at the slightest provocation
either inside the house or outside, with his
children seeing him is setting a bad
precedence in this regard. He should not be
surprised if his child reply him in harsh tone,
especially when the child gets to adolescence.
Therefore, all fathers should ensure they serve
as good role models in the month of Ramadan
and beyond
3. Abusing other people bad mouthing
A few years ago on a TV interview programme
for kids in Lagos, a child was ask to say what
his father and mother’s are. The little boy said
his father’s name was ‘the stupid man,’ while
his mother’s name is ‘the foolish one.’ When
he was asked why their names are stupid and
foolish. He replied by saying this is what he
always hear both parents call each other.
A good number of children learn the trade of
abusing, bad mouthing and cursing people from
their parents at home.
4. Taking your child’s side
Some parents will always support their children
at any time, even if their children conspicuously
does something wrong. They are ready to
defend their children, against anybody the
children wrong. This is a bad sign. It will in
turn make the children do evil things which
parents will not like, but will not be able to
correct their children again.
5. Never notice any bad behaviour
Blaming a child for something he did wrong
and telling him the right way of doing it is very
good. It shows the parent cares for his child.
However, if a parent overlooks all what his
child does wrong, there will be a time the child
will hurt the parent by doing something very
bad and will never listen to correction from his
parents.

Confusion in Abia state as two governor battle for one state

The centre has refused to hold in Abia state
regarding a false documentation scandal
which have given room for a battle over the
governorship seat.
This troubling issue takes the lead of virtually
every Nigerian daily for Friday, July 1.
The Vanguard and Daily Sun share a similar
headline on their front pages. “One state, 2
govs” their headlines read.
Constitutional chaos broke out in Abia State,
yesterday, after the Independent National
Electoral Commission, INEC, issued a
certificate of return to Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, governorship claimant, Uchechukwu
Sampson Ogah.
The commission said its action was on the
basis of a court ruling, Monday, by an Abuja
Federal High Court which removed Dr. Okezie
Ikpeazu from office as governor of the state,
allegedly for failing to fulfil requirements
expected of a candidate for the governorship.
The INEC action immediately paralysed
activities in the Ikpeazu-controlled Government
House in Umuahia, setting anxiety among
officials and other stakeholders, Vanguard
reports.

forever – Ikpeazu, Nigerians react
Daily Sun reports that While Ogah arrived the
state from Abuja to a heroic reception
yesterday, Ikpeazu said he remained the
governor irrespective of whatever order was
issued by the Federal High Court and the
consequential actions of INEC, pending the full
exhaustion of all judicial avenues of seeking
redress.
According to him, “Abia State is a peaceful
State consisting of law-abiding citizens but their
patience should not be stretched and their
civility taken for granted. The citizens of Abia
State will resist any attempt to subvert their will
which they freely expressed at the polls and
which was affirmed by the Supreme Court.”
But addressing the crowd that received him as
he arrived the Sam Mbakwe International Airport
Owerri, Ogah promised that his government
would be fair to all and not be for a particular
local government or section of the state.
Ogah who was flanked by his wife, some
Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains and
supporters who defied the downpour to receive
him added: “I have been issued the certificate
of return by the National Chairman of INEC as
the lawfully and duly elected governor of the
state in the 2015 governorship polls in Abia
State. I want to assure the people of the state
that this is a new dawn of better future for all.
It’s a dawn of fresh air.”

Nigerian's reaction

The decision of former publicity secretary of
the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Olisa
Metuh to return the N400million traced to him
from defence funds has come as a surprise to
many Nigerians.
Olisa Metuh and other members of the PDP s
are currently facing trial for allegedly receiving
funds meant for the purchase of arms.
Recall the several PDP party members are
currently facing trial for allegedly receiving
funds which were primarily meant for the
purchase of arms for the fight against Boko
Haram insurgents.
The money was reportedly shared to party
officials by former president Goodluck
Jonathan through the office of the nation
security adviser.

However, following the travails of his trial,
Metuh through his lawyer Onyechi Ikpeazu has
issued a statement again reasserting his
intention to return the funds in its entirety to
signify his support for President Muhammadu
Buhari’s anti-corruption war.
But Metuh’s turnaround has generated reactions
from Nigeria social media space, as some
Nigerians who are wondering why the once
outspoken PDP spokesperson has all of a
sudden become born again.
Niger Delta group condemned the invasion
to the Gbaramatu Kingdom by the Nigerian

– The president of the group also warned over
the cancellation of the Maritime Varsity project

The group tells Buhari to complete Maritime
Varsity project.
The president of the Niger Delta Youth
Association Worldwide Victor James has raised
concerns that the Federal government attempt
to cancel the Maritime University at Okrenkoko
will be at its peril.
In a statement made available to NAIJ.com by
Stanley O. Efe the group said the cancellation
will germinate revolution in Nigeria and that
those beating these drums of war for the
Muhammadu Buhari’s administration will be
the first to go on exile as refugees.

Victor James gave this stern warning at a
press briefing in United Kingdom. The briefing
was attended by a member of British
Parliament for Swansea East constituency,
Carolyn Harris, and other notable youth leaders
from the Niger Delta region.
He said: “ The Maritime University in Okrekoko
should not be cancelled as it will be a channel
of employment and development in Niger Delta
region which is the responsibility of the federal,
state, local governments and multinational oil
and gas companies. This is apartheid, injustice
and oppression which should not be herd of in
this modern era, come to think of it, why is the
oil and gas facilities in Escravos not cancelled
by the Federal government?”
Mr. James further condemned the invasion to
Gbaramatu by the Nigerian army and called on
the government to apologize to the people of
region because it is not only an act of
aggression but “ an act of war by a group of
administrators against an important integral part
of the owners of the Nigerian State.”
“It is an abuse by administrators of the
institution (government) set up by the Nigerian
State to run its affairs of the people who own
the Nigerian State hence; the perpetrators
should be probed including the presidency.
Administrators of the government of a federal
state has no constitutional right to declare war
against a federating unit of any federation
because it is devoid of logic and commonsense
we have many security agencies hence, what is
expected of them in to trace the real
perpetrators in a professional format and
prosecute them but not to send the military as
if they’re going to fight Alshabab in Somalia of
which military personnels went there and ended
up stealing, killing and raping Citizens of the
Nigerian-State, I mean this is unacceptable in
any sane clime. Such unprofessional action
smacks of brigandage and incompetence” he
noted.
